Where are you from and how long have you lived in Vancouver? I am from Iran and I have been living in Vancouver since 2019.

Why did you choose to become an RVT/VA/CSR? I used to work as a CSR back in my country for 15 years. Also, I love animals. When I was looking for job, I thought that would be great if I can bring my experience to the industry that I love to work in.

What do you love most about being an RVT/VA/CSR? I like to work in a field that I can serve people with my job. And now as a CSR in an animal ER, I am able to help and serve both animals and their families. Also, I love interacting with people and show my empathy.

What advice would you give someone entering emergency veterinary medicine as an RVT/VA/CSR? And what skills are most important? If you don’t have love and compassion for animals, don’t choose working in an emergency vet medicine. You need to have really good communication skills, be flexible, patient and understanding.

Tell us about a special animal memory. A lady came in with her sick dog “Rajah” from Bowen Island. We ended up euthanizing her baby and when I went to talk to her about the details, she started talking about the experience she has had with Rajah and it reminded me of my dog. I told her about the relationship between me and my dog and realized that we had the same experiences. When we got sick our dogs got the same disease.
