Mountainside 24/7 Animal Emergency

Hugo

Hugo & Walter, two dogs standing in the forest

18 June 2024

Handsome Hugo arrived in Mountainside with a wound on his cheek.

Though it was unclear whether the injury was caused by an animal or a stick, it was evident that it would require a repair. Hugo had sustained a 3-5 cm full-thickness laceration on the right side of his face, exposing the underlying muscle tissue.

To treat the wound, Hugo was sedated, and our veterinarian expertly clipped, cleaned, and flushed the area before meticulously debriding and stitching the laceration. Great care was taken to minimize any scarring on his handsome face.

After a brief period of wearing a cone, Hugo's face healed beautifully, allowing him to resume playing with his big brother, Walter!
