Dr. Ewan Wolff

Dr. Wolff obtained their DVM degree from the University of Wisconsin’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. They then completed a rotating small animal internship in the UW teaching hospital in 2012. Following their internship they did the first year of their residency at Massey University and then completed their residency at Purdue University.  They then completed an ACVIM Foundation Advanced Clinical Training Fellowship in nephrology and urology in 2017 and later received certification in hemodialysis from UC Davis. In 2018, they started as a staff internist at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Maitland, FL, then went on to found an internal medicine service at Bridger Veterinary Specialists in Bozeman, Montana in 2019. In March 2020 they returned to the renamed AVS/BluePearl Orlando at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, they left Florida to found an internal medicine service for BluePearl in northeast Portland, Oregon. At AVS they were an internship director, and then served at BluePearl as an intern, specialty intern mentor.  They have served previously on the BluePearl Science Advisory Committee, followed by service on the scientific design review committee and internal institutional review board.  For several years, Dr. Wolff was involved in idea generation, project development, negotiation and then implementation of the BluePearl University Partnership program, which launched in 2023 as a hybrid university-private practice faculty program to address the veterinary specialist shortage.  They have also co-lead of the Pride associate resource group for BluePearl. Outside of their practice, they have served as research committee chair for ASVNU,  and for ACVIM on the membership committee, Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce, DEI Strategic Planning Committee and current DEI standing committee. They also have been on the consensus panel for the recent AAHA mentoring guidelines (2023) and fluid therapy guidelines (2024) and lectured regionally and nationally on internal medicine, mentoring and DEI topics.   They are also an author of internal medicine articles and book chapters. They serve on the board of directors of PrideVMC, the veterinary pride community, as an industry liaison/at-large director since 2022 and serve on the Board of Visitors for University of Wisconsin. In 2024, they were elected a member of the National Academies of Practice (US) in the veterinary medicine section. They are also a research assistant professor at University of New Mexico, where they continue to work on dinosaur paleopathology research and advising student paleontology research.  Outside of work they enjoy paddling, hiking, beachcombing, crafting and cooking for their small family.

In addition to being very focused on spectrum of care for clients, Dr. Wolff’s focus for years now has been on patient outcomes and solid medical practice. Although they are passionate about nephrology/urology, hepatology, bone marrow disease, complex endocrine cases, infectious disease, ultrasound and minimally invasive procedures, they enjoy the challenges of general medicine. Dr, Wolff is looking forward to building relationships with the referring veterinarian community and clients in the Vancouver area.
