Mountainside 24/7 Animal Emergency

Emergency of the Week - Yamakasi

Yamakasi, now 10 months old, had a challenging start. At 6 months, he was brought to Mountainside for reduced appetite, vomiting, and respiratory congestion. Diagnosed with upper respiratory congestion, he was hospitalized and treated with IV fluids, nebulization, antibiotics, anti-nausea meds, pain relief, and probiotics. His chest X-rays were normal, and concerns about a gastrointestinal obstruction resolved. Bloodwork showed a high lymphocyte count, indicating a viral infection. Despite developing some diarrhea, his condition improved, and his appetite returned.

Now fully recovered, Yamakasi is thriving. He recently took a trip to Tofino with his family, where he explored pet shops, made canine friends, and even enjoyed some seaside relaxation. His journey from illness to adventure shows his resilience and love for life.
