Emergency of the Week – Milo

Milo

Milo, a 3-year-old Terrier mix, was running around the backyard when he got caught on an exposed bolt on the trampoline, causing a large laceration in the groin and a small one on his chest. Unfortunately, the wound needed surgery, and the owners were warned that such wounds might require multiple surgeries due to the area's high tension and movement, risking seromas.

The wound was prepped, clipped, and cleaned with copious amounts of saline flush. It was debrided, and the edges were cleaned before our veterinarian carefully placed a drain and stitched up the wound.

As expected, Milo developed a seroma at the incision site, extending the healing process. However, after a month of restricted exercise and wearing his cone, he was all healed up. Now, the adorable boy is just waiting for his hair to grow back!
