Mountainside 24/7 Animal Emergency

Emergency of the Week – Joey

Joey the Airedale Terrier

Meet Joey, a gorgeous two-year-old Airedale Terrier! Recently, her owners noticed she was urinating frequently and in unusual places, squatting repeatedly on hikes but often with no results. Suspecting a UTI, they brought her to Mountainside.

Her symptoms lined up with a UTI, so to confirm, we performed a cystocentesis to collect urine directly from her bladder. A urinalysis run on our in-house lab equipment confirmed the presence of bacteria and marked pyuria.

Joey went home with antibiotics and pain meds to combat the infection and ease her discomfort. After completing her treatment, she made a full recovery and is now rid of her pesky UTI.

We’re so glad to see Joey healthy again!
